Like many others, JH Baits began as a love for fishing in Ontario, Canada, later morphing into a musky addiction.  In 2010 I tried, and failed miserably, to build a unique marabou spinnerbait.  Later I tried my hand tying bucktails, eventually finding a unique combination of marabou, hackle, and tinsel.  The Flashbang was born, and results were immediate.  The Ottawa River, French River and Georgian Bay are a few of the elite bodies of water where the Flashbang hit "paydirt".  The smaller brother of the Flashbang, the Snappy 7's, have since infiltrated many Southern waters, also leading to success in Wisconsin, Michigan, West Virginia and Minnesota.  Every JH Baits bucktail is carefully built by myself using solid, quality components. Each tie is finished with industrial epoxy and outfitted with powder coated blades . No compromise is made, no corner is cut. For specifics, please see below.

Two important Landmark catches standout in JH Baits history.  The first fish, caught by the Musky Boys on the Ottawa River, was the first significant musky to fall to a Flashbang, which was the basis for what would become the $10 Bass pattern.  Second, my father caught a 49" Georgian Bay beast on a "Seizure" pattern Flashbang that I had given him the previous Christmas.  It, and his "Birthday Bait" have since caught multiple muskies, and are still his go-to lures.

Birthday Bait

The Birthday Bait colour scheme has built a reputation as a big fish pattern.  It is responsible for most of the biggest fish JH Baits has put in the boat

Quality

All JH Baits are tied on wire coils and then fed onto .062" wire.  The advantage here is that a bucktail that has been bent, or cut to save a fish, can be restrung and fished again.  Check out the video above.

JH Baits bucktails use heavy duty components and materials.  Each bucktail contains oversized clevices, .062" wire, 7/0 hooks, industrial two part epoxy and only solid beads,.  This ensures that the bucktail stands up to the fish we hunt.

We learned in 2014 that hollow beads are no match for power of a musky.  The fish that crushed the beads and clevices of the lure on the right was described as an average musky Ottawa River musky.
